Orange Country Tutoring Volunteers

Crazy Statistics

More than 1/2 of California students are reading below grade level.

Around 2/3 of California student fall short of grade level standards in math.

Who Are We?

Our group consists of highly motivated high school and college students who want to give back to the community by offering our tutoring services to K-8 Students. Take a look at our volunteers under the “Meet The OCTV Family” Section

Why Do We Tutor For Free?

At OCTV, we recognize that the cost of private tutoring can be prohibitively expensive, with some services charging up to $50 an hour. These high costs can place a significant burden on families and create a barrier to accessing the educational support that many students desperately need. We believe that every child, regardless of their financial situation, deserves the opportunity to succeed academically.

Our Mission

Loose Handdrawn Plus Sign

Our mission is to bridge the educational gap by providing high-quality, free tutoring services to students who might otherwise be unable to afford such resources. By removing the financial barrier, we ensure that all students have equal access to the academic help they need to thrive in school and beyond.

We Are Looking For Tutors!

Our team is looking for more volunteers who want to give back to the community! If this sounds like you do not hesitate and reach out to us!

Meet the OCTV Family!

Leonard Gea

Hello! I am a sophomore at Irvine Valley College and am dedicated in pursuing a biology related degree with the hopes of going into medicine. I have had experience doing research with the National Center for Advancing Translational Science (NCATS/NIH) and many leadership roles.

My passion to fight academic inequality drove me to create this program. I truly enjoy working with children and find it incredibly rewarding to see them grow and succeed. Beyond that, tutoring allows me to contribute positively to the community that raised me up and continue on my personal development journey!

Caleb Shin

Hello! I'm a junior at Portola High School and am interested in pursuing a pharmacy related degree.

I have a passion for children to be living their childhood without academic strain. Being a part of a child's success story fills me with joy and I look forward to helping kids achieve their goals.

Justin Gea

Hello! I am currently a senior at the University of California Irvine, deeply immersed in software and machine learning development.

I want to be a tutor because I have a strong desire to share my knowledge and enthusiasm for computer science and machine learning with others. Tutoring not only allows me to help others understand complex concepts and technologies but also enriches my own understanding and skills. It's incredibly fulfilling to see students overcome challenges and develop their own passion for the field, and I believe that through tutoring, I can make a meaningful contribution to their educational journey and to the broader tech community.

Faith Adidarma

Hey! I am a freshman at UCSD and I am pursuing an engineering related degree.

I want to become a tutor because I love working with children. I want to help them become better people and help them succeed in areas they need help with the most. Also, I would love to impact my community as I know there are many families that can not afford tutoring for their children, and it is unfair to those children that they do not have the same privileges and abilities to learn as other children do.

Maxon Tjhatra

Hello! I am an incoming junior at Pacifica High School and am dedicated in pursuing an electrical engineering related degree.

I want to become a tutor to help others excel early in their academic careers. A tutor's step-by-step assistance enables students to truly understand and teach concepts, like math, to others. Today, learning often feels like a pursuit of grades rather than knowledge. As a tutor, I aim to change this mindset and show students that learning is enjoyable and enriching.
